Position Title: Youth Activity Intern                       

Department: Youth Activities

Reports To: Youth Activity Director, Operations Director

Supervises/Direct Reports: Camp Counselors, Kid City Staff

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Youth Activity Director and the Operations Director, the Youth Activity Intern is responsible for managing all aspects of Kid City, Camp Columbia, Teen Clubhouse and Youth Activities for the summer season.  He/she must ensure the proper operation of Camp Columbia and ensure the safety of all children at Camp, Kid City and during youth events with the assistance of supporting staff. The Youth Activity Intern must focus on keeping the children engaged and having fun, incorporating educational components into each program. They must fulfill all administrative duties given by the Operations Director. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Comply with the Clubs policies and procedures as established in the employee handbook.
  2. Enforce Club policies and procedures as required.
  3. Staff supervision and training as needed.
  4. Maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and guardians.
  5. Maintain a professional behavior and appearance appropriate with children and adults.
  6. Maintain a safe environment for children.
  7. Promote Youth Events, activities and involvement.
  8.  Attend weekly staff meetings.
  9.  Be aware of childrens health concerns. Ex. Allergies.
  10. Monitors and related website related material to ensure accuracy.
  11. Work on any appropriate projects assigned by the Operations Director.

Kid City

  1. Manage all daily operations of Kid City
  2. Supervise and assist with activities in Kid City.
  3. Stay alert and involved in all Kid City activities assuring that the children are having fun while still being safe.
  4. Approve daily activities for all ages who come to Kid City.
  5. Accept reservations for Kid City and enter them into the reservation log.
  6. Charge Members using Jonas software.
  7. Ensure Kid City areas stay clean. 

Camp Columbia

  1. Will assist the Operations Director in preparing a budget during the camp season. 
  2. Assures all campers are under constant supervision for safety purposes.
  3. Manage all daily operations of Camp Columbia
  4. Supervise and assist with activities in Camp Columbia.
  5. Watch over campers and counselors that are swimming to assure their safety.
  6. Develop programs for the campers including crafts and activities.
  7. Stay alert and involved in all Camp Columbia activities assuring that the children are having fun while still being safe.
  8. Approve daily activities for all ages that come to Camp Columbia
  9. Coordinate daily programs with all departments
  10. Takes part in clean-up procedures
  11. Accept and manage reservations for Camp Columbia.
  12. Email confirmation to members after registration is filled out and returned.
  13. Take attendance of all campers.
  14. Bills Member accounts according to the reservation list and attendance records.
  15. Completes a weekly email to the parents of campers, informing Members what their kids learned and did during the week. 

Teen Clubhouse

  1. Supervise Teen Clubhouse when necessary.
  2. Supervise and assist with activities in the Teen Clubhouse.
  3. Monitor and replenish supplies.
  4. Ensure supplies are readily accessible for members and guest to use.
  5. Make sure all equipment is working properly.
  6. Make sure Teen Clubhouse and Teen Party room areas are clean and presentable. 

Youth Activities

  1. Will assist in the organization of monthly youth activities.
  2. Coordinate Youth Event and Activities with the Catering Office and Management as needed.
  3. Supervise and assist with all Youth Events and Activities.
  4. Monitor reservations and communicate necessary changes.
  5. Provides assistance to the Catering office leading up to the Annual Fireworks Celebration. Staffs and supervises the Youth Activities portion of the Annual Fireworks Celebration. 

Essential Qualifications:

  1. At least two years prior experience working with children (day care center or school).
  2. First Aid and CPR certified.
  3. Proficient communication skills (Must be able to communicate friendly but firmly with children, parents, and staff).
  4. Perusing bachelors degree in Hospitality, Early Childhood Education or related field.
  5. Microsoft Word, Outlook and Point-of-Sale knowledge required
  6. Well organized and strong management skills


Job Category:

Part-time less than 30 hours per week.
